DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN
A program to browse through GNU manuals online. Its first
display is a directory showing all the manuals available.
If you already know which of those manuals you want, you
can give the corresponding menu entry as an argument to
iinnffoo; for example, `iinnffoo iinnffoo' requests the online manual
for iinnffoo itself.
The manuals are organized into _n_o_d_e_s, which correspond to
the chapters and sections of a printed book. You can fol
low them in sequence, just like in the printed book; but
there are also menus, ``hot'' references, and search fa
cilities.
The best way to get started with iinnffoo is to run it with no
arguments. The first screen displayed is a menu of the
documentation available. Typing the single letter hh re
quests a tutorial.
GNU Emacs has a builtin facility equivalent to iinnffoo. If
you already use Emacs, you may want to get into the docu
mentation browsing mode, instead, by typing CChh ii inside
Emacs.
You can get out of iinnffoo at any time by typing the single
letter qq.
Here is a summary of all the iinnffoo commands; iinnffoo itself
can display a summary like this at any time, when you type
the single character ??.
hh Invoke the Info tutorial.
qq Quit Info

dd _p_a_t_h
++ddiirreeccttoorryy _p_a_t_h
A colonseparated list of directories; where to
look for info files and their directory. The first
of these directories containing a file `ddiirr' gov
erns the toplevel directory displayed; but you can
explicitly visit info files by name, whether or not
they're in that directory, from any directory in
_p_a_t_h.
nn _n_o_d_e_n_a_m_e
++nnooddee _n_o_d_e_n_a_m_e
Go directly to node _n_o_d_e_n_a_m_e of the current file.
Since directories don't have nodes, this option is
most useful if you also specify a particular _t_o_p_i_c
or use the `++ffiillee' option. You may specify more
than one `++nnooddee _n_o_d_e_n_a_m_e'; the rightmost will be
displayed, but you can visit the others in reverse
sequence using the command ll.
ff _n_a_m_e
++ffiillee _n_a_m_e
Go directly to info file _n_a_m_e, bypassing the main
directory display. _n_a_m_e may be a fully specified
path; if not, it will be sought through the info
path directories.
oo _o_u_t_f_i_l_e
++oouuttppuutt _o_u_t_f_i_l_e
Copy a node to file _o_u_t_f_i_l_e instead of running in
teractively.
_t_o_p_i_c Go directly to topic _t_o_p_i_c from the main info di
rectory.

EENNVVIIRROONNMMEENNTT
IINNFFOOPPAATTHH
Overrides the default paths compiled into `iinnffoo' to
specify where to look for info files. The
`++ddiirreeccttoorryy' option in turn overrides this environ
ment variable.
IINNFFOO__PPRRIINNTT__CCOOMMMMAANNDD
Overrides the compiledin default printing command
(normally `llpprr') used to print nodes on request.
